Guest Services Attendant

In this role, you'll interact with a diverse population every day, building positive relationships while supporting the exceptional experience that defines the Duke community. Your customer service skills, attention to detail, and commitment to hospitality will help ensure that every guest feels welcomed, respected, and supported.

As a frontline team member, you'll play an essential role in maintaining secure facility access while providing outstanding customer service in a fast-paced recreation environment.

What You'll Do:

Create Exceptional Member Experiences
  • Welcome members and guests with professionalism, enthusiasm, and exceptional customer service.
  • Provide accurate information and helpful responses to questions in person and over the phone.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment for all facility users.
Manage Access and Membership Verification
  • Verify facility access using DukeCard, Mobile DukeCard, or MyRec Mobile ID.
  • Review membership status through Fusion software and approve or deny facility entry based on access eligibility.
  • Ensure compliance with facility usage guidelines and membership requirements.
Support Guest Services Operations
  • Assist guests and visitors with check-in procedures and explain facility policies.
  • Maintain accurate guest and visitor records.
  • Support key management processes and facility reservation activities.
Maintain Facility Safety and Accountability
  • Document incidents, accidents, and facility concerns accurately and professionally.
  • Manage lost and found items according to departmental procedures.
  • Coordinate with facility monitors, lifeguards, and other recreation staff to support day-to-day operations.
Contribute to a Team Environment
  • Collaborate with colleagues to ensure smooth facility operations.
  • Support emergency response procedures while remaining calm, professional, and service-focused.
  • Promote a welcoming atmosphere that reflects Duke's commitment to community and excellence.

Anticipated Pay Range: Duke University provides an annual base salary range for this position as USD $20.00 to USD $24.10. Duke University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position; candidate's work experience, education/training, and key skills; internal peer equity; as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
